Farewell, Angela Bofill
I am sitting in an auditorium at Columbia University and you hit the stage. I’m with one of my best friends and hope she doesn’t see the tears rolling down my face as you start to sing, “I Try” Matters of the heart run deep.
The next time I saw you was at the Apollo Theatre in NYC. You brought your sweet nephew on stage, and he kept calling you “Titi” as you tried to sing. We loved it!!!
Then, we heard that you had a stroke, and the radio stations asked us to pray, and we did. Sis, we were not ready to lose you, so we “Loved You Back to Life.”
The effects of the stroke temporarily took away your beautiful voice, but the singer, Maysa, did your play justice, and I so regret not being able to see it.
Then, the horrible rumors kept hitting the Internet about your passing, and we breathed a sigh of relief when we realized you were still among us.
And now this —
What comforts me is knowing that you left us your legacy of creative genius through music.
“The Universe is Waiting for You to Live a Life That’s Happy & Free.”
Yes, ma’am. Message received and welcomed.
Fly High, Angel, and thank you!!!!!! Angela Bofill
